“Intentional flatulence”? :-)

February 4th, 2008

Haha, I had to include this… intentional farting as a crime.  Whatever happened to the old adage - “better a vacant lot than a house full of angry tenants”??

“According to this week’s Fire Cracker school newsletter though, the joke’s on the boys as the penalty for “intentional farting” is now a detention.

“Strange, but true, thanks to a bunch of 8th grade boys, intentional farting has been banned from CRMS,” the newsletter said. “It started out as a funny joke and eventually turned into a game. This is the first rule at CRMS that prevents the use of natural bodily functions. The penalty for intentional farting is a detention, so keep it to yourself!”

Those wacky East Germans…

January 29th, 2008

“German nudists will be able to start their holidays early by stripping off on the plane if they take up a new offer from an eastern German travel firm.

Travel agency OssiUrlaub.de said it would start taking bookings from Friday for a trial nudist day trip from the eastern German town of Erfurt to the popular Baltic Sea resort of Usedom, planned for July 5 and costing 499 euros ($735).”

Evidence we’re getting dumber - “I need a hitman” on Craigslist

January 28th, 2008

And here I was thinking craigslist was there for “afternoon delights” (read “gay hook-ups”) ;-)

Here’s this incredibly stupid woman running an ad in Craigslist for a hitman.  Funny thing though, I never knew the going rate for “off-ing” someone… 5k, now I know.  Y’all better watch yourselves.  :-)

From smh.com.au -

“A woman advertised on the popular internet site Craigslist for an assassin to kill the wife of a man with whom she had an affair, US authorities say.

The advertisement by Ann Marie Linscott, 49, was posted in November as a generic request for somebody to perform a “freelance” job, court documents said.”

Download music online, legally…

January 27th, 2008

From the TimesOnline:

“With CD sales in free fall and legal downloads yet to fill the gap, the music industry has reluctantly embraced the file-sharing technology that threatened to destroy it. Qtrax, a digital service announced today, promises a catalogue of more than 25 million songs that users can download to keep, free and with no limit on the number of tracks.

The service has been endorsed by the very same record companies - including EMI, Universal Music and Warner Music – that have chased file-sharers through the courts in a doomed attempt to prevent piracy. The gamble is that fans will put up with a limited amount of advertising around the Qtrax website’s jukebox in return for authorised use of almost every song available.”

Sounds like the record companies are going to give up chasing college students and embrace technology… we’ll wait and see :-)

Heath Ledger dead. RIP.

January 24th, 2008

Not sure why I posted this, but I guess it did come as a shock and he was a talented dude.  Young too.

I have to admit I didn’t LOOOVE Brokeback (figured it was a short story made excrutiatingly long), but his performance was terrific.

From the Aussie online paper, smh.com.au:

“Yesterday, the 28-year-old Australian film star was found dead, face-down and naked at the foot of his bed in his rented SoHo apartment in Manhattan. There were prescription drugs, including sleeping pills, by his bed.”

Indie Hunt is ON! Win $1000 as our fan favourite indie artist.

January 18th, 2008

Jesus & Rifle… WWJD?

We’re doing it again… we have just launched a search for new music talent with the Indie Hunt competition (we used to call it “Artist of the Month”). Fans get a chance to help discover & promote the indie music acts on the site, with the fan favourite & competition winner receiving a $1000 cash prize. The competition will run from mid January to the end of February 2008.

With registration on the site free, the competition is open to all indie music acts with their music profile on the site. Previous winners of the competition include The Brobecks and Let’s Become Actors, both awesome acts which you should check out.

Some terms & conditions…

you got to be a registered member of sessionsound to be eligible (obsviously, since that’s how people get to vote for you)

minimum of 50 votes to have you eligible for the top prize

only one vote per fan - fans have to be members too, and we register IP addresses so the same computer can’t register heaps of times

the competition ends 29th February 2008

the winner is announced within one week of the competition ending

we reserve the right to kick a5sholes out who we find being sneaky (that’s the legal jargon out of the way ;-)

If you like, you can stick one of these banners on your site to promote yourself and the competition to others.  Jesus holding a rifle… now who wouldn’t respond to that?!
